“Looking Inward, Thinking Forward” was the theme of this year’s professional development programme at the meeting. 80 lawyers from more than 40 law firms and 40 countries, spent four days in Romania discussing and addressing the challenges of Millennials and leadership.

Interlaw’s Special Business Teams (SBTs) also met at the conference providing an interactive opportunity for participants to talk about and share their different experiences in the EMEA region and allowing them to update their professional practice skills in areas such as Mergers and Acquisitions, Arbitration and ADR, Employment, Labour and Pensions and Immigration, IP, IT, Tax, Competition and Distribution, Real Estate, Banking, Finance and Insolvency.
SBT meetings included special guest speakers from Romania such as Cristian Nacu, Senior Adviser and former partner of Enterprise Investors, who updated delegates on the Romanian mergers and acquisitions market and Dan Visoiu, Secretary General of the Bucharest International Arbitration Court (BIAC), who discussed the BIAC Arbitration Rules. They were also joined by Ioan Iacob Managing Partner of Qualitance and Dan Cautis, Associate Vice President at Georgetown University, who shared their views on “Digitalisation in the workplace”, exploring the future of technology and what that will mean for the professional services industry.
The meeting also hosted the first meeting of the Interlaw Public Procurement SBT, chaired by Alina Bilan of ONV LAW. Participants also enjoyed the Women Lawyers of Interlaw presentation led by
special guest speaker and coach Diana Voicu, who presented on the topic of female development in the business and legal environment in Romania.
The event also featured first rate plenary session speakers and workshops that enabled participants to address and discuss the challenges of Millennials and leadership. Keynote speakers included Mike Mister from Møller PSF Group, Churchill College, University of Cambridge and Maria de Freitas from the Foundation for European Progressive Studies.[:]
