Emmanuelle Maire, Head of Internal Market & Airports Unit – DG MOVE, a adus in discutie concurenta de pe piata interna europeana, semnaland astfel interesul Comisiei Europene fata de nevoia, perceputa in piata, de reactualizare a legislatiei in domeniu.

Among the key topics addressed by the participants there were: air accident investigations and the emerging technologies that allow simulating these incidents, the development and competition among airport hubs in the European Union, the Gulf and other non-EU regions, the relations between airline companies and airports, as well as the legal difficulties and limitations that arise in the implementation of safety management systems in aviation (SMS).

Emmanuelle Maire, Head of Internal Market & Airports Unit – DG MOVE, talked about competition in the European single market, emphasizing the interest of the European Commission in updating relevant regulation on this topic, in response to the perceived needs of the market. Among the other speakers there have been Diego Gonzales, Legal Affairs Manager – Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 SA and Chairman of WALA, Alan Menegetti, Partner in the London office of Locke Lord LLP and Michael Siebold, Partner at Arnecke Sibeth which provides legal assistance to some of the largest airlines such as Delta Airlines and Emirates.

“The fact that law firms, such as Arnecke Sibeth – ranked by Legal 500 as a first band firm for Aviation Law – are experiencing the same challenges as we do in the Aviation Practice, enables us to both exchange best practices and to ensure that we meet our clients, who wish to expand to jurisdictions such as Germany/Romania, with the same standards of quality” said Mihai Furtuna.

The conference in Athens brought together representatives of 62 organizations from 35 countries, a remarkable geographical diversity for a niche event. The agenda is available here.
